Sarah Monroy
Sari Monroy Solís is a fiber artist living in Northern California. Her father came from the
Mayan Kaqchikel community in the Valle de Panchoy area of Sacatepequez, Ixim Ulew
(Guatemala) and her mother from the highlands of Veracruz, Mexico. Traditional backstrap
Weaving is ancestral to both sides of her family but she learned from her elders in Guatemala.
Sari is a natural botanical dyer and lifelong student of ancestral textile arts such as weaving,
embroidery, and photo-embroidery. She is an artisan member of NorCal Fibershed. You can
