About The Artists
With an emphasis on exciting and unexpected grooves, adventurous improvisations, and rich soundscapes, StringQuake has captivated audiences far and wide. The group formed in 2012 with the mission to use their distinctive instrumentation—electric harp, cello, and percussion—to transcend audience expectations. They have produced an outpouring of original recordings that harken to the diverse collaborative cultural scene found in their native San Francisco Bay Area.
Eclectic Bay Area violinist Briana Di Mara brings her love of the instrument and its soulful expression to every performance. She was trained in western classical music as a child and has since gone on to study and perform a wide variety of traditional styles including Celtic, Balkan, Turkish, Arabic and Latin music. She harmoniously weaves these influences into her own sound and musical compositions, and is known for her evocative improvisations and skillful ability to play a broad range of genres from many different cultures. Her debut album, Haven, has earned rave reviews and reflects the dynamic collaborations that she has built around her original compositions.
